Removal of lower dash/upper console?
First of all, let me say:
a) I tried looking at the DIY for installing the second cigarette lighter outlet, it didn't make sense, plus i think it was for a 2001, i have a 2002. There may be a slight difference in the removal since the actuall panel is definetly different.
b) I did try a search for this question. I'm sorry if I missed something. Please point me in the right direction.
I'm putting some switches in there so I need to access the switch panel (right next to the cigarette lighter outlet). I am having the hardest time trying to figure it out. I got the fuse cover panel on the drivers side off (easy as pie), the passenger side foot panel (or whatever its called), and the trim peices on the center console. I just can't figure out for the life of me how to get access to that panel!
Please help

Hmmm...pull what straight out, the switch/power outlet panel? I'm not quite sure how to get ahold of this panel. You're sure it just pulls out? No screws or anything?

Hmm...not quite sure if that's what I'm looking for. I don't want to remove the center console, I want to remove the panel directly above the cup holder, where the power outlet is located. Maybe I have to remove the center console to remove that...I'll try it. Another thing, that DIY looks like its for a 2001 manual...I have a 2002 automatic. We'll see if it works.
Thanks. Any more help would be great.

well you have to remove the center console cause it blocks 2 screws... here look HERE its the 5th picture down.. after you remove the 2 screws just give it a good pull it in there snug.. but dont pull to far cause it connected to a plug for the outlet.
i have a 2002 also.. its the same as a 2001 its just we have a lid over our cupholder.. and the outlets and them plastic rectangles are different look.. but mainly the takeing them off are the same ..

Look in the DIY section on how to remove your head unit... You can't remove that part without removing the center console. It works in succession, which I think is annoying as hell, but that's how you do it.
Re: Removal of lower dash/upper console?
I need to replace the back lights for the a/c button and the air recycle button on the uper console. I'm guessing the I need to remove the front pannel to access the swiches to remove thw light bulbs. Any experience
Re: Removal of lower dash/upper console?
stick your finger in the cig lighter, and pull. itll come out. and to replace your bulbs, do the radio DIY, only dont unsscrew radio. just push out the buttons and put a new light in.
Re: Removal of lower dash/upper console?
yea just stick a finger in there and yank as hard as u can.. u wont break nothing even tho it seems like u might. however now im having trouble getting the console out where my stereo is.. anybody know? i unscrewed the two screws that were above the cig lighter section.. what else is there? it just wont pop out like everyone says..
Re: Removal of lower dash/upper console?
use your fingers to reach up in there (thats what she said), and find another metal bar thats up higher, is smaller, and is farther inside the dash than the big one the screws were in. push as HARD as you can, its very hard at first, gets looser with time (thats what she said) lol, and now, i can pop mine out in about 30 secs. Keep your face away tho, cuz mine just kind of rocketed out the first time.
Re: Removal of lower dash/upper console?
hm thats what i figured, i reached in as far as possible and couldnt hear a thing or feel anything get looser (she also said that), so i just gave up and went back to bed... (true story)
