Installing Sidemarkers

Has anybody taken off the sidemarkers that they have installed to see if the area that they drilled through has had any problems, either with oxidizng or maybe even rusting??? Or anything of that nature??? I want to put sidemarkers on this weekend but don't know if I really feel like drillingholes in the body panel of my car yet.

Any help would be great guys and girls.

Thanks,

Joe

Drill them into the bumper in front of the wheel well. A bumper is $200 to fix while a hole in the panel is $????

If you ever had to swap out that quarter panel it would only run about $800 for parts and labor. So, it's not a really big deal if it rusts, I guess. As long as you coat it with some touch-up paint you shouldn't have a problem at all.

See if you can find some brush-on anti-rust paint and stuff and put a few light coats around the hole. either that, or take and make the hole just a tad bit smaller, and maybe put some kind of rubber gasket or weatherstripping around the hole so it doesn't rust. Just some ideas.

Buy some aftermarket fenders, or get some at a junkyard, then drill into that one.

(Your stock fender will love you for it )

I'm gonna use the touch up paint idea. I'll be installing them soon, hopefully before the Tysons Corner meet

Yup, if it rusts it's not covered but it's only that fender, the rest of the car is still covered.
