turbo

i am so freaking excited. this company near my house was looking for a 2k1 or 2k2 civic lx/dx to use to develop a turbo and intercooler kit. when i saw this form i couldn't beleive it. i fit that category exactly- i have the lx model. so i called them and brought my car down and they said they'd love to use it. i was the fist person to ask them. lucky me. they're doing it for free, but when they get the design and install it if they sell more than 7 of these in 6 months i get it for free. if not i have to pay for it. its a long shot but heck i think they could sell 7 of these locally. unfortunatly they won't ship, so all the dealing must be local or i'd ask yall to buy some. haha

yes good point. the deal isn't finalized. i'm still consulting with them on specifics. if they don't offer a warranty if they mess up then screw it. i won't take that chance. this is a local company and its fairly new. but i hope it pulls through.

if they dont ship! then why dont you have members off this site pay you the money, and you buy it locally, and ship it to the members?
im sure you could get 2-3 members....i would be interested...depending on the specs, and money..

yeah, this sounds fishy to me. They want to sell turbos, but won't ship them? Plus, a custom turbo for the vic really needs a project car? There's at least 2 places local to me that said they would do a custom one for the right price. WTF?

im trying really hard to refrain myself from being rude or insulting here, but this is exactly why people flame people on this site. i've told people over and over on this website, please, if you're considering a turbo or a major engine mod, DO YOUR RESEARCH. before you install a turbo, you should know EVERY COMPONENT to the turbo, as well as knowing what they're individual functions are. all these new kids come on here bragging about how they're getting turbos and such, but have no idea about how a turbo operates, and such.

the second thing i want to say is that this deal sounds a bit fishy, especially because they are going to make u pay for your turbo if 7 turbos of the one they build from your car arent sold. becareful here, because companies like that dont sound too secure. IMO...they should do it for free, but if they're not gonna do that, make sure that you get everything, and i mean EVERYTHING, written down so that you dont get screwed here. there are so many ways that they can get themselves out of trouble with your car, if the proper precautions havent been taken. make sure they offer to buy you a new engine if they mess urs up. its very likely that after they R&D that turbo on your car, your car is not going to be the same quality. your engine is goin to have been HIGHLY STRESSED after the R&D, if it runs at all. this should be your biggest concern, because that engine of yours isnt going to last half as long as any other engine with a turbo...

also, u might wanna try to have them agree to BUILD UP your engine for you, meaning, STRONGER/NEW pistons, rings, bearings, rods, crankshaft, cam, valves, etc...

if this all works out for you, then congrats, and g'luck w/ the turbo... but once again, you better know your facts about turbos if your gonna get one... it is nothing like adding a simple cold air intake!
