Differences between D17 and D16??

I know there aren't many parts out yet for the D17, so I'm just trying to figure out what is different with the new D17 engine besides a larger displacement, new computer, new intake system and the DX/LX header with catalytic converter built in. For example, could I put in a performance cam that was made for a D16?? Or, would a header from a D16 work on a D17?? I got the factory manuals for the 2001 up civic (not the electrical yet...) so maybe if someone has some illustrations of the block and head etc... They could post them for me. Thanks for the help!

newbie asks legitimate question, "senior" member offers boneheaded reply. wow, that's a first...

the world would be such a better place if only more people could READ.

i cant tell you about cam shafts, i know that the 1.7 block has different pistons and a crankshaft then the 1.6, our pistons are slightly oval shapped.
i was looking into a jdm lightweight camshaft awhile ago. i sort of forgot about it when i didn't get the reply email from my contact. i'll follow up for you.

Our pistons are slightly oval shaped?? what do you mean by that?? Not that they have an oval bore, right? I dont think that is possible. Thanks for the follow up!!

Yep...the bore is an asymmetrical oval...and it is possible, bikes have had oval pistons for years.

I am feeling lazy right now, otherwise I could give you some links...but search...I have posted some threads about custom-grind cams from crower, custom rods, etc. I am sure other members have also posted about other goodies.

Edit: Spider833 (I think that's his name) has ahd the port & polish done...might wanna PM him.
