AEM bypass install

I installed my AEM CAI last week and I want to install a bypass now. I searched the forum and their seem to be conflicting opinions on where to place the bypass and if it is necessary to cut the tube. Will the bypass still be effective if I place it inbetween the two pipes? Thanks!!

what a bypass valve does: if the air filter is submerged in water, the engine trying to suck air in will create a vacuum in the intake, and suck the water up, just like a straw. the bypass valve releases the pressure and prevents the water from entering the intake. if water does get in the engine, it causes something bad called hydralock. it usually ends up destroying the engine. the bypass valve is cheap insurance against it. if you have a CAI i would get it no matter where you live. where you put it doesnt matter, but generally toward the throttle body is usually where it goes.

and it will still be effective if you put it in between the two pipes.

Screw the bypass, I have the AEM CAI and never had problems. I drove with it all last winter, dont worry you'll be fine. You'd have to be a complete moron to get engine damage. I mean you'd have to completely submerge the entire filter in water which means you'd have to drive in like a foot of water. I just drove home tonight from work and it was POURING, I mean I could barely see, and i made it fine., and my car is lowered too! The bypass is just way to make more money and it ruins the way the intake looks. save your money and just drive cautiosuly and you'll be fine.

dbone if you just replace the coupler with the bypass valves inbetween the two pipes it should work.

yea i think you do need a bypass valve just in case ya know? my car is dropped 2.5 inches and my cold air intake is pretty close to the ground and i guarentte that when it rains there wil be puddles and water will splash upwards towards the engine, thats what i have experineced, i parked my car in the garge after it rained and my filter was slightly wet, but i guess cuz my car is really low. i just bought a steel cutter thingy from home depot and cut my pipe and just stuck the bypass in it pretty simple.
