whriling sound from timing belt

Well I dont know if its called a timing belt but its that rubber belt that connects the starter motor and everything else. Well anyways, when I push on the gas, a whriling sound comes from one of the "wheels" that the belt connects to. The belt is in decent condition. A book says that the ball bearing may be defective. Any other ideas? Thanks guys.

I've been hearing that but haven't actually listened under the hood to see if that's what it was, I couldn't think of how to describe it, but that's it, ever since 3000 miles. I suppose I'll check later.
