Install Door Speakers

How much of a pain is it to replace the door speakers in a 2k1 Civic LX Coupe w/ PL, & PW?

at first, like most things, of course it will be harder. You just need to know that are two screws behind the door lever, 1 big screw in the doorhandle, clips all the way around and after you pop out all the clips to hit the bottom of the panel off to dislodge it. Make it easier by unplugging all the switches. I can pop mine out in 5 minutes w/o rushing.

It's really easy if you know where the screws are. the DIY here has the big info on it...

or you can check my pictures of me removing the door panel from mine here... maybe some of the pictures give you a diff perspective.

door speaker access pictures

The hardest part for me was hacking my existing speakers to make them mounts. This basically meant cutting out the exising speakers.

The tweeters are the easiest part, since they pull off completely if you cut the wires to be hacked to mount new tweeters.

I took out the speakers and drilled mount holes in my door. then I just used sheetmetal screws to hold it in place. Quick and simple.

Did you have any problems with the magnet interfering with the window glass?

I used duct tape. The speakers mounted on just fine. No rattling, no problems. Sounds great!!! Just an idea for some of you............
