Dude,
All you need to do is pull down on the bottom half of the shift know where the leather boot and the **** attach. It will just pop off, then just turn the shift **** to the left until it comes off. It's like the easiest thing to do to your car. Now if your trying to change your your leather boot that's another story...

Well,
You can do both. If your getting a momo shift **** your better off to get a momo boot it just looks nice. (Thats what I have HEHE) but if you just want to use the stock boot (It's cheaper) you can, it just requires some doctoring. just use a file and file down some of the plastic at the top of the stock boot. It does not fit perfectly, but it looks ok. It also saves you a tone of time trying to install the momo shift boot. It took me forever to do it and make it look good. It was worth it though!
