REAL ADVICE

Ok....does anyone know how to check the code to see WTF is going on with your car when the check engine light comes on. Or even reset it?

You'll need a special tool.. costs about 3 bucks, it's basically a wire loop on a plug, goes onto a plug in the interior fuse box by the steering column. I can get you the part number tomorrow morning if you need it. When you hook it up, it will flash the check engine light a number of times, you look that up (I can also post the table, or can tell you which it is) and you'll know what sensor tripped it. You can also turn off the check engine light, provided the sensor is not still throwing a fault signal. It also works on the SRS light. I'll post the part number tomorrow morning when I get to work.

How about a DIY with all the codes? That would be nice.

Or, you could disconnect the negative battery terminal for about 15 seconds. That will reset your light. Of course, if the fault is ongoing then it will just trip again.

Alright, I'm going to scan the pages about resetting the service lights and codes. It's about 15 pages, and I'll link them off of my website, jpg format. Just download and print, it's directly from the service manual/bible. I'll post the link when I'm done.

Here's the SRS codes. The check engine codes work the same way for reading and resetting, and it's about 15 more pages for them. I can scan and upload those as well, but it's a lot of space in jpg or adobe acrobat format. Grey- if you want these, I can scan and send to you and you can post them under the diy section. Just tell me what format you want (jpg or adobe acrobat) and I'll get it done. It's too big for the attachment file size, and I can only store on my webspace for a limited time.

Go here for the codes and procedures: DTC Pages

Captain- if you go get the service connector module (1st pic on the page) and read your check engine DTC code, just tell me what it is and I'll look it up if I don't already have the pages posted.

If you save them in Adobe Acrobat format will it capture the text from a scan and convert it to text? That would be preferable. Just send everything to me: dobosz@wpi.edu
I'll e-mail Derek about it and see if he'll want to put it up. Technically it's printed material and it's copyrighted, so the answer will probably be no. I'll host it though.
