JetChip ECU upgrade

I was just looking over the parts section and went to the website of the JetChip ECU upgrade. It claims to increase 8-10hp at the wheels. Anybody have this and satisfied with it? Have you run it on the dyno to verify the claimed amount of increase?

A friend of mine with an 01 integra type R put an ECU chip upgrade and it did increase hp but robbed him of a few ft. lbs. of torque. To those that put the chip on our 01 civic, did it rob torque too or was it a completely positive addition to the car?

- its better to do other mods first with the ecu upgrade coming last.

Did your friend have any other mods, or did he just do the chip by itself ?

let me see if i can list all his stuff:

act clutch, AEM cam gears, AEM fuel rail, SKunk2 intake manifold, AEM fuel pressure regulator, AEM cai, DC sports 4-2-1 header, Greddy evo exhaust, eibach springs, and I believe the AEM pulley's. I believe he put in the chip towards the end of this list, definitely not the first item

oh, he has 16" volk racing wheels gunmetal which are so nice and light--i think they're the TE-37's

I just had my ECU chipped by JET Performance Products. I am going to the 1/4 track today and will let you know what kind of gains I made.
I can feel a difference after 1500 rpm's though.

Yeah,,,, its a waist of money unless you have a lot of mods done 1st,, since you have to get it programmed from JET via overnight shipping.......I'm glad I live 30 min away from Huntington Beach.........Definately on my list of mods, but towards the end.........

in my honest opinion, the JET chip ecu upgrade did definately help.
I noticed a difference from 1500 rpm through the whole powerband to redline. Even with my tire pressure dropped down to 23 psi and launching at 2800 rpm I was spinning the tires for the first 60 feet it felt. So, I have to get re-adjusted to how my car reacts. I was in the low 15.8's all night even though it was 94 degrees F last night.
This is what happened

Car # 504
Dial-in: 15.72
Reaction: .882

I1: 2.455
I2: 6.641
I3: 10.172
MPH (I3): 67.991

E.T. 15.796
MPH: 87.802
Over/Under: .076

Any q's feel free to ask. Check the member rides section for all the Mods on my car.

hmm. wouldn't it be better to do the chip upgrade after more extensive upgrade?

I think a few more after the usual I/H/E bolt on would be much better...

how much did it cost anyway?

notice any mpg difference now?

and say you do more mods to the car, it'll probably be better to reprogram the chip again... no? I wonder would it cost cheaper the second time around...

thanks for the responds.

good run btw. thats some fast time for a civic.

I bet swapping out that dc header for one that replace your cat too would yield a lot more hp too.

Yes it would, if there were more internal engine components for us.

I used JCWhiney as the middleman and it cost $229.00

Haven't noticed much of a gas mileage lost, but the way I drive and race, I don't get great gas mileage only about 32 mpg.

I can't change oput the cat, I have kept my car completely C.A.R.B. legal.

It's been a challenge to make it fast and legal. Bone stock I was runnin the 1/4 mile in 17.4's and 17.3's
