Need Help Painting Piece In Front Of Gauges

Hey guys I need help painting the piece in front of the gauges. Not the piece where the gauges sit on but the one in front of the clear plastic. It has 2 screws on top but I don't know if thats all I need to take off and then just stick a flat screwdriver on the side and try to pull it out. I will try to get a picture from the members rides so you can see exactly what I am talking about. But if you know how to take it off can you please help me. I don't want to mess it up.

Go to the Reverse glow guage DIY, it shows exactly (with pictures) how to remove. Basically it requires removing those screws and carefully prying the whole peice out(its held on with clips and some glue so it takes a little effort to remove it). just be really careful not to scratch or crack anything or break off the ***** for the dash illumination or mileage clock. Its not that hard though, i just did it a few weeks ago when I installed my chrome rings around the guages.

Take out the whole cluster like in the DIY. Take it to a comfortable place and remove the clear plastic by pressing the clips. If you done it once, you'll see how easy it is.

Okay it was really easy to take off and I painted it like the diy said. I put 2 coats of primer and then I painted it with the Plastikote paint. It came out like ****. It doesn't look smooth. It has a lot of bumps from the primer. Was I supposed to sand it then paint it or what. Every time I ad a coat it gets smoother but I already used 2 little cans. Should I sand it or just buy some more paint and keep on painting on top of it? My only problem is that when I went to Pepboys I got the last 2 cans. Will any other color match? I got the honda silver. Will the toyota or any other silver match almost the same as what I already have? Someone please help.

Well I went to see if it was dry yet and it kinda was but didn't like it so I peeled it off. It came right off. Now I am going to sand it then put the primer and then paint it over. I hope it comes out better this time.

Alright so I read the diy again because it doesn't say to sand it at all and I saw that it said to use white primer. The primer I used was like a dark gray which is darker than the honda silver. That is why I think I had to use so much paint to get the color to come out nice. I think I will wait till tomorrow and buy the white primer and more paint if I can find the same honda paint.
