to increase redline you will need new valves and stiffer valve springs and a cam that can produce max power at higher rpms.and if your in there replacing valves, springs and a cam you should port and polish the head. then you need to remove the rev limiter from the ecu. lightened pistons and rods won't increase redline but they will let you get to redline faster by decreasing rotational weight.

you also can opt for a lightened flywheel for quicker revs or have the oem shaved

get an aftermarket flywheel (if your car is manual) i don't trust the factory lightened ones

This is your starting point...

After that, get an intake, then exhaust and once they're available, a lightweight flywheel and clutch kit, and titanium valve springs/retainers.

Edit: That should be good for about 8500rpm.

Um, yeah on the faster increase of rpm, and no on the fact of leaving bottom end stock. If you are increasing centrifigal force, via higher rpm you should go to forged rods/pistons no doubt about it.

ha ha, MANY civic drivers fall in that category. don't be rippin on 02celicagt-s just cause he's a celica owner. 1. that celica is DAMN fast. 2. he used to be a civic owner. 3. he's a cool guy.

as far as the redline, good luck with it and let us know how it goes. that's not a bad idea at all, that would make our cars tons faster, just from the perspective that you gain a second or more every time you shift in the quarter mile.

Actualy APS, I dont think Im the "shizznat" (whatever the fvck that means). This car isnt that much faster than the 2k1 civic. But Im sorry I forgot that your a civic driver and that you own the world.

Edit: No offense to anyone else on this site.

Dude its wise to lay off the civic driver on a civic site. All the GT-S has is factory head work to boost the horse power and that is exactally what this civic owner wants to do

the valve train may need some more lightening to be done. Since the 2k1 civic has a lower redline of 6700rpm compared to the previous d16 which reved upto 7000 rpm. so I suggest titanium retainers, stiffer valve springs and a lighter camshaft (modified) to still produce power with the increase in rpm.

The hard part is to find a suitable ECU to change the rev limit. I have no idea if there's such a computer yet but Jun and other companies are bound to produce one. in my opinion.
