Resetting the main. req'd light

Can anyone tell me how to reset the main. req'd light on my 2k1 Si? The car has 8000km on it and I am sure that the light is telling me I need an oil change. I have chosen to maintain the car myself because I feel that 8000km is to long between oil changes and the 5W20 the dealer uses is to light of an oil (they only seem to care about gas mileage and not engine life). Anyway, I appreciate any help you can give me and I'm glad I found this great site.

Adam.
