OEM Shifter with Boot conversion..?

Because of the recent discussions I have seen of the boot conversion I decided to do this. I have all the parts on their way here and should arrive on wed. for me. The only thing I'm lacking is a shifter.... I would like to use the OEM shifter because I like how it looks, but I was wondering if that is possible or is it better to replace the shifter when you do this? If I replace the shifter I would probably go for one that looks like this that I found at pepboys for like 20 bucks but its a different brand. Anybody got any input on this? Thanks!

Uhh. whats the point of keeping the OEM shifter, its no longer going to match the rest of teh stuff your replacing, and it sits way low on the shifter shaft. the boot would be pushed way deep into teh opening and rub agaisnt teh shifter assembly underneath. if you really HAVE to buy one of those junkers from riceboyz go ahead for now until you have enough saved up for a decent one like ichibahn, momo or razo. Ichibahn and Momo auto ***** will fit direct with teh grey ring on teh manual boot.

so the ones that are available at pepboys that look just like the RAZO ***** are bad? I thought they were probably identical. I really like the momo ***** but I didn't want to spend like $100 on a shift ****, I wanted to do this conversion but I wanted to keep the cost down as low as I could which is why I was looking at the shifter I was. I like the design of the OEM shifter and if I could keep it without it looking ghetto or anything then I would like too.

Well, the OEM one is definitely not going to fit. I don't remember who it was, but I saw a pic of someone trying it and it looked a$$. You might want to try checking out Ebay. They always have nice deals on auto shift *****, some of which are hard to find anywhere else. For now, I'd go ahead with the one from pep boys. Even THAT will look better than the oem shifter with a boot.
