The stock boot connects to the little grey ring underneath the OEM ****. From what I understand, the RSX shift **** mates up with it fine, but otherwise, you'll have to kind of rig it up. I've heard people speak of using a rubber gromet under the shift boot to keep it from sagging. I've also heard that if you buy certain momo shift ***** and boots, they connect to each other flawlessly without gap. Overall, you don't HAVE to buy a new boot, but you can.

What Vizyun is so true, but Momo shifters/shift boots are the best combo...th3e shifters screw right into the shift boot, so no unsightly gap...that is what I am planning on going with!

Wow, I never heard of the shift/boot combo from momo, I will have to do some research on this subject. I have been hesitant about replacing the shifter because I want my ride to look custom, but OEM clean. This sounds like my kind of soloution.
what blown said is true...but on the other hand...when it get really really hot...
you'll notice that the the electrical tape gets kinda gooey.....
I went with the electrical then went with the rubber grommet....
the RG way took about 10 minutes...nice and easy
