The stock boot connects to the little grey ring underneath the OEM ****. From what I understand, the RSX shift **** mates up with it fine, but otherwise, you'll have to kind of rig it up. I've heard people speak of using a rubber gromet under the shift boot to keep it from sagging. I've also heard that if you buy certain momo shift ***** and boots, they connect to each other flawlessly without gap. Overall, you don't HAVE to buy a new boot, but you can.

What Vizyun is so true, but Momo shifters/shift boots are the best combo...th3e shifters screw right into the shift boot, so no unsightly gap...that is what I am planning on going with!

Wow, I never heard of the shift/boot combo from momo, I will have to do some research on this subject. I have been hesitant about replacing the shifter because I want my ride to look custom, but OEM clean. This sounds like my kind of soloution.

Its cool to buy momo! but it will set you back a s*it load more then just buying a cheap boot and a nice looking shifter!

The simple solution is to take electrical tape and wrap it around the shifter enough so that the plastic ring won't slide down.

what blown said is true...but on the other hand...when it get really really hot...

you'll notice that the the electrical tape gets kinda gooey.....

I went with the electrical then went with the rubber grommet....

the RG way took about 10 minutes...nice and easy

Be sure to get the Momo "Performance" shift boots, these are the ones that screw into the Momo *****.

Drop that bad-boy down with the shoft shift kit (not adapter) and some bushings and you got my setup. Highly recommended by the way. Going back to a standard shifter feels weird and clumsy now.
