I have 17s with 215/45 tires. I went with the 45 series tires because there are 2 seasons here. Winter and Construction.
I think 17" wheels are just the right size for most people.

IMHO, 17's and 18's look kick@ss in our civics...however, it will largely depend on your local roads and how horrible they are.
I'm running 17's with 205/40 tires and for the most part, they're just fine. In the last few months, however, Dallas has gotten heavy rains and there's also a lot of construction going on so there are potholes and broken pavement everywhere, it seems. My biggest worry right now is bending a rim...I may even switch to 16's.
There's also the question of ride quality; if you go too big on the rims, you will need a lower profile tire, which will make your car ride like $hit...![Disgusted2](https://www.civicforums.com/forums/images/smilies/face-icon-small-nono.gif)
I am sure there are more things you'll need to consider...these are just a few.

well 17's are great..specially if you go with 215 45 tires. more sidewall than 205 40..not to mention your mileage on your odometer will raise a wee bit slower ..

Hey, with 17's and 205/40/17 rubber.....how much will the odometer raise by? It can't be that much. Will it throw the speedo off too??? Just curious......

It is all up to you and what you want to spend. I like 18's but I am sticking with my 17"s. Also remember, the bigger you go, the more your ride quality will suffer. Here in Atlanta our roads are pretty nice, so majority of folks around here go with 18's. All in all the choice is up to you.
