i got everything out, just not sure how to dislodge cables from original unit. instructions say pry clips away, but not really seein that. any help would be appreciated.thanks

You need a pair of needle nose plyers, or something to that effect.
Look where the cable connects to the stick....that's where the cotter pin is.
you have to straighten both ends, and then pull is out.

Yes, just bend the pins so you can pull them out. Be careful and don't bend them too much. You will need to bend them back just like that once you switch the unit out. Hope that makes sense. You'll love the revo by the way.

thanks guys, but i wasn't talking about the cotter pins, i was talking about where the main two cables actually connect to the old plastic unit, but it's ok, i got it...took it out, love it.revo rocks and i installed it with the kumosport bushings as well

When you put back the right side slip clip, were you able to slip it in all the way? I tapped it in with a mallet, but I can't get it to "lock" in. When I shifted to 2nd, 4th or reverse, the slip clip would make a noise when it hit the metal part of the right cable. So, I just used duct tape to act as a "cushion" so it wouldn't make a noise. Was there anything that I should have been aware of when putting back the right cable and the slip clip?

LOL [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG] I had the exact same problem. Went out to get a bite to eat after the install and heard that clanging noise! [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/IMG] I knew it was that clip though. The clip is locked, it just isn't so tight that it doesn't move anymore. I took mine out and used some big pliers to squeeze the two sides together a little bit. It took a few times because that little piece is strong as hay. That should work pretty good. However, just to be darn sure, I took a tire repair plug and stuck it under the little lip that comes down onto the white housing to make it more secure. No more noise for me. Hope I helped you out.

I JUST finished installing mine and I had a hell of a time getting the secondary (black) clip off the OEm setup. The instructions said to pry it out, so pry I did and ended up snapping off about a quarter of the outer surface ring...including the handle part. Anyway, I was cursing myself like mad, but when I put the Revo in, it locks just the same so I figure, Cool! and left it [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]

Thanks for the info! I tried to squeeze the two sides together with pliers but like you said it's "strong as hay". The duct tape solution worked for a bit, but tonight I started to hear the clanging noise again [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/IMG]

I am going to replace the slip clip with a new one. Hopefully that will help. The service manual says to replace that piece anyway. If that doesn't work, I'll use your tire repair plug solution [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/IMG]

Yea, those plugs are so darn sticky. It takes up the little space so it can move up and down on each side and the stickiness helps it stay put.

yeah i had the same problems with mine the clicking noise it wont clip in all the way. The pins that come out the second one wouldnt go in all the way so i used smal paper clip to get it in there worked. I like it i think im donna install the slol on the revo now and get kumo shift bearings hopefully it works the revo and solo
