2001 timing belt tensioner bolt wont tighten up?

I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX and I changed the timing belt and on the tensioner the bolt wont tighten up cant even get close to 33lb. When I took the bolt out it has shaving on the bolt. Is their any thing to put on the bolt or what are my best options ? Thanks

If shavings are on the bolt after you take it out then you are striping the threads on either the hole or the bolt but most likely both. This will be a easy fix though. Go to autozone and buy you a tap and die set. Get it out and have the bolt and find out what thread it is. Grab the right die and retap the bolt and also retap the hole where the bolt goes to and then try that.
