Got into an accident, what should i be looking for to fix suspension problems?
Got into an accident, what should i be looking for to fix suspension problems?
Basically an old guy was speeding down an intersection, and clipped my fender/bumper and scuffed up my rims. unfortunately unless i can prove he was speeding it's apparently going to be my fault so I'm gonna be fixing it myself since insurance won't cover it(only have liability)

here's my car as it is now, I just removed the bumper, that side fender and the inner fender, as well as the front splash guard. it seems to drive fine except for the fact that the alignment seems WAY off, especially for something that didn't even hit me too hard.
I'm taking it in for an alignment tomorrow as it is and hoping it's just my alignment, but what else should I be looking for in case it isn't?
So far fixing this doesn't seem too bad since I ordered the fender, splash guards and such online myself, and I plan on putting them back on myself.
I know I should probably take it to a mechanic, but I don't have the money for that at the moment. At a glance all my suspension seems normal, but I'm not too familiar with that kind of stuff

I'd say just do a general check of all your suspension components on your passenger side, just to see if anything looks odd or out of place..
Re: Got into an accident, what should i be looking for to fix suspension problems?
yeah, i did that and to me it seems like everythings fine, but again I don't know too much about the suspension to know if everything is exactly fine aside from the alignment. anyways I took a couple pictures of around my passenger side suspension area to see if maybe anyone can spot anything out of the ordinary that I couldn't
thanks a lot

check out your tie rod as well

It's impossible to align it without an alignment machine. Can't tell by the pics but, you might have bent something. Definitely have the mech check for bent parts. Good luck.

ugh, so yeah took it to an alignment shop today, and it's impossible to align even with a machine :\
apparently the impact pushed my strut tower a bit up, and i'll have to take it to a body shop to get the frame repaired.
anyone know about how much i'd be looking at for this?:\ its pretty minor damage isolated basically just around the strut tower but it's still frame damage

Somebody did that to my Civic 5 years ago also. But he came from the alley so that his insurance paid for the repair. The craftsmanship was terrible that the gap between hood and both fender wasn't the same.
The passenger headlight aimed wrong, the driver side aimed wrong also. I do not snow if I can adjust it or not since we can only adjust up and down.
Anyway, sorry to hear about the accident. Good luck

you can look for some sedan headlamps and get new sockets for the bulbs to fit your coupe. they have both up/down and left/right adjusting ability that coupe lights do not.
