How do I replace a spring on a coilover?

For starters, my 93 civic si has been lowered on coilovers(idk what kind) but the guy I bought it from (the guy who lowered it) chopped the front driver side spring in half. After driving for a little bit I realized that this was throwing off the alignment. The driver side wheel also bottoms out at every little bump. My question in simple, what kind of spring will I need and how do I install it? Any help will be aprciated (because I want to get back to driving my civic). I am new to the scene so I don't know that much.

Re: How do I replace a spring on a coilover?

wow...

Step 1: Find the guy you bought it from and find out what kind of coilovers they are.

Step 2: Deliver a swift kick to his genitalia.

Step 3: Contact the manufacturer of the coilover to see if it's possible to order the spring directly from them

Re: How do I replace a spring on a coilover?

Thanks, I plan to deliver that kick. When I was checkin' it out, the guy said they were skunk2 proS coilovers but I can't trust what he says because he said that the d16z6 that was in the civic was non-vtec. He didn't seem like he knew much. That's why I posted this hoping to find a general cure. Again thanks.

Re: How do I replace a spring on a coilover?

There's no part number or name. That's why I was wondering if there is like a universal spring I can buy.

Re: How do I replace a spring on a coilover?

I doubt there's a universal spring. Every company makes their coilovers with their own spring rates, so your best bet is to contact the dude to find out what kinda coilovers he eff'ed up so you can contact the company to order direct from them.

Re: How do I replace a spring on a coilover?

Thanks but he didn't kno what company made them. He bought 'em off ebay he said. I guess I'll just go through a junkyard and find a spring that works.

Re: How do I replace a spring on a coilover?

If your at the point where you need to search through a junk yard for a spring that fits, you'd be better off replacing the springs and struts.

Post a pic, maybe someone will recognize your coil overs.

Re: How do I replace a spring on a coilover?

I was doin' some research and I'm gonna buy 2 new springs for the front so that I can be sure that both sides have the same spring rate. That way I won't have to replace the entire coilover.

Re: How do I replace a spring on a coilover?

lol.. grab some tein s-techs, or eibach pro-kits if you don't wanna have to deal with adjusting 'em. It'll give you a subtle ~1.5" drop all around.

Re: How do I replace a spring on a coilover?

to the OP:

you understand that all our suggestions are only ASSUMPTIONs on ur assumed conditions on weather u have struts and sleeves. if u have an actual coilover tho, its a totally diff story.

moral of the story? take figgin pix so we can see ur setup. so we can give u the correct advise.

no it's just the sleeves all around. I'm about 100 miles from my car right now (family reunion) so I'll try and get pics up when I get back.
