Input shaft bearings
So I already replaced my small input shaft bearing but I think my large one is making noise. Clutch engaged, neutral, I hear a bearing noise. If I put my ear next to the trany I hear it right at the end of the transmission, opposite engine side. But let me confirm, the countershaft doesn't spin in neutral with the clutch engaged right?
My second question is, does a bearing noise always mean that the bearing will go out soon? Because I'm really not in the mood to replace it. Luckily, I don't have to drop the tranny but rather I can take off just the trany housing cover with transmission mounted.
Also I wanted to say that running 10w30 in the transmission is not good for it despite what people claim. Honda only recommends it as a temporary solution. I added valvoline full synthetic 10w30 as a test, and the shifting became very notchy right away. I just replaced it with the honda MTF and the problem went away, I can't recommend this stuff enough. Increased friction resistance means increased transmission life and gas mileage.

Re: Input shaft bearings
You don't have to drop the trany for the large input shaft bearing. For the small one (clutch side) you do.

Re: Input shaft bearings
The throwout bearing isn't in the transmission, it's in the clutch housing and is never refered to as an input shaft bearing. I'm talking about the two input shaft bearings which are located inside the transmission.
