Re: DIY: Intake & HID
there bad at actually filtering the air it lets in. we can all agree that sri cai and drop ins do basically nothing to or cars so at least get something thats better at filtration.

I never claimed the drop in filter did anything. Its personal preference. If K&N is such an awful brand then how are they still in business?

HID's have lots and lots of DIY in the site and it is just a matter of taking your b... off your seat and use the button on the top of the page called SEARCH!!!
don't be so lazy or you will get up to 500 pounds in 3 weeks!

^ We were all new once.......
I think some intakes do come with instructions. They are so easy to install you will be able to figure it out. Just take a day that you have lots of time and you can just go nice and slow and do it right.
It's pretty easy, you just remove the stock plastic air box, and air filter box. So now that all the black plastic pieces are gone you should be looking at your throttle body. Just be careful when removing stuff because there is a sensor on there you will have to connect to the new intake. After that should be pretty self explanatory. You attach the new intake, put the sensor back and you should be good.
Get the AEM dryflow filter, its the best one around. Nothing wrong with K&N either, they are known for quality products, but AEM has the best one for our cars.

Re: DIY: Intake & HID
being new is one thing, but being lazy and think that we work for him as if he is paying for the help is another thing entirely...
you do know that i do try to help if i can...
If need to ask that much before even start, well, does not sound promising to even try himself... if after first frozen bolt he comes back here, better not to start the work himself but rather with a friend that knows more... I read a lot before asking questions... saves me a lot of trouble and don't need to bother others until i cannot understand one of the steps of the DIY that might be around the forums is what i mean... When searching for some solution to a problem, i bump into so many threads with the same thing over and over that becomes hard even to find the useful ones...

I agree with you. Unfortunately not everyone is as adept on computers as others. Sometimes people have trouble locating their own threads let alone searching through other peoples. I guess the trick is patience and just try to help them. If you want noobs to search, teach them how. I wonder how many useful members we lost here because they got pushed away by someone being rude and not helping?
There are people out there who are licensed certified mechanics but don't know how to turn a computer on!

Brandongill, let us know if that did work out for you. we not only try to place some advice, but they will be considered just that, advice, unless the OP does reply saying that it did work.
And if you came here for unpaid help, at least thank who tried to help

Re: DIY: Intake & HID
sorry if i made it seem as if i was asking for a hand out. I had searched online for directions and instructional videos on how to replace the intake but wasn't able to find one for my specific car and i wasn't sure if it made any difference. The intake came in yesterday and as you said K&N gave me very specific instructions as well as some helpful pictures. Im putting it in on thursday with a friend so i should be fine thanks for the help.

and good luck with the install! Sorry for all the fuss, if you looked at you are ok! Re: DIY: Intake & HID
put the intake and hids in yesterday. I love it the hids theyre a huge improvement and the intake made a big difference for throttle response and some extra power. Next step is to get the scuffs off of my head lights.
