I'm sure you're doing research before buying/installing such parts to begin with...
"Air Bypass Valve
AEM’s Air Bypass valve for Cold Air Induction Systems virtually eliminates the unlikely chance of water ingestion should the filter element become wet from deep puddles, rain, hail, sleet or snow–or any other scenario in which the filter element could encounter or become submerged in water. The valve installs along the upper portion of the inlet pipe on the same axis as the throttle body centerline. Should a drop in pressure occur within the pipe due to filter submersion, the valve shuts down induction at the filter and routes incoming air through its external orifices, eliminating any chance of water ingestion. But it causes a loss power, and in 90% of cases it's not needed. AEM claims the power loss is less than 1% of the power gained. They told me this via email, but then why would they sell a piece to replace the value when racing???
i agree that the bypass valve only werks when the filter gets submerged, ive had mine for about a month now and have had no problems but my filter hasnt been wet and it has rained pretty hard. it wont hurt it if water splaches on it thought will it? cause the bpv only helps when it is submerged.
