Help with clutch

Ok guys i am not to knowledgeable about this stuff but i know a little. But anyway i have a 2002 honda civic si and well the clutch pedal use to let out at the 1/4 the way off the floor but now its more like 3/4 the way from the floor. It lets off toward the top now and its getting annoying cause it kinda harder to drive. But what is wrong with it. Does this mean i need a new clutch or what.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Help with clutch

Adjust your master cilinder pushrod to compensate for the wear. Loosen nut, twist rod with finger so the pedal is lower. Then adjust the stop bolt. There should be half an inch of play, but you can even do less.

I wouldn't even mess with it though. It's better to have the engagement up high because the lower the engagement point, the more abrupt (less smooth) the clutch will engage, making it hard to drive.

Sounds like you need a new clutch though.

Thanks for the post. And ya i was kinda thinking bout adjusting the pushrod but i heard that it wears out the throw out bearing fast. But i might just adjust it alittle not to much though. And ya i was thinking i might need a clutch i have 90k on my ep3.

Re: Help with clutch

I don't know what the deal is with the pressure plate. It's self-adjusting to a point, but then after that the pedal starts to engage high?

Re: Help with clutch

My clutch lets out about 3/4 before it catches aswell so a new clutch may be coming but when ur clutch has nothing left it typically starts slipping- Revs dont match acceleration.I'm not slipping at all and I'm easy on the whip so I think I've got more time. All depends on ur driving habits/previous owners I guess.
