Re: Alternative to Honda trans fluid

the honda stuff is the best for auto trans. the only other almost safe substitute is amsoil atf but its way more expensive and i only know a few people that tried it. who knows what it would do over time. i also add some LC20 from lubecontrol.com to make the fluid last longer. hasnt caused any additional problems for 40k miles after the trans started slipping before using the additive.

if you have manual, its not as picky.

If you have a manual, use honda mtf. 2 quarts is 15 dollars, and will last 15k miles. Don't use 10w-30 because it's thicker and you won't get as good gas mileage. It also doesn't have additives. You save money by using the honda stuff.

Re: Alternative to Honda trans fluid

if u have a manual, u can you "GM syncromesh friction modified"

it is better than honda's if u have a slipping transmission and allows u to obtain smoother shifts. research bout it n you'll see wt i mean. (manuals only)

Re: Alternative to Honda trans fluid

We use this at my works for honda trans and many other import atfs it is actually made better then any of them so that they meet the standards and exceed them, and the only manufacturer who has had a problem with it was hyundai, not kia or mitsubishs odly (All use SP3 ATF)

Well there is some you could use with it if you wanted but I dont believe that it is necessary. Usually you can find them at auto shops like NAPA and other places

Been wondering about that. 30 bucks a quart, wow. I gotta try it just once though, next oil change.
