92-95 JDM B16A ...all bolt on??

So i really would like to get rid of my stock D16 soon in my 99 civic..i found this engine and I have heard that for the most part these engines can be changed out with any real modifications to the car..but I am really curious..what all would i have to do to swap this in my 99 civic dx???

First of all engine swaps are for the dumb-witted. they are a waste of money. your d16 is fine, just supe it up and who ever told you that the d16 is crap, it isn't. Go to a mechanics shop and get some REAL advice on what you can do to your d16. I'm serious. people who say a d16 is crap are misinformed.

D940 I would really like to just get my d16 pushing close to 200HP. Now everything on it is just stock with the exception of a short-ram intake. The engine has 156,000 + miles on it and would I HAVE TO ADD A TURBO KIT to get it close to 200 HP?? Would it be more economical for me to throw on a turbo, or take the route of headers, exhaust, new intake, ignition mods??? Granted, I am new at this, so I don't want to go all out, just tune it up a little and have some fun..you think i can get my car pushing 200 easily??

okay so i found out why B16a into a 99 civic is not a direct swap. it kinda is, but not really. the motor itself will bolt up just fine, but you are gonna need new axles (from integra) and also downgrade to the OBDI ecu since your current OBDII will not work with the older motor. this obviously makes the swap illegal in some states. usually ppl go with the B16a2 since it uses OBDII already. most ppl will tell you to go with the B-series over D-series. i havent seen many guys swapping their B16 SI motors with a lower performing one but i guess its possible if they blew the original motor and are just looking for something cheap to put in.

you are barely starting with 115bhp on the non-vtec D16 you have now. with all the intake/exhaust/header boltons, you might be able to bump it up 10-15hp and be the same as the EX vtec motor. i would stay away from turbo if you want a reliable car that wont have you spending money to fix things all the time. stick with the boltons for now and enjoy the car. there is no way youre getting near 200hp without a turbo unless you plan to spend thousands of $$ building the motor.

You won't be able to get 200 hp on a civic engine with just a full exhaust system and an air intake. You'd probably get around 150hp depending on what you get and if your d16 is vtec or not.

Ha ha what a joke! 150 with an air intake and exhaust? Maybe with a bottle full of dreams in your trunk!
