Question 2004 excessive road noise help

I understand that the road noise on a civic is the most common complaint of the car. However, I am getting an excessive noise that I have not heard in any other civic I have rode in. I have changed tires, and rotated and still get the same noise. It is not my tires. I need help with any suggestions on what might be causing excessive road noise. Here is the description of the noise...

I have to avoid going 45mph because that is when it is at its worst. It sounds like a warped tire or a split belt in my tire, but its not that. It is only coming from the driver side wheel well as far as i can tell. The steering wheel shakes a little which makes me think that it might be a balance problem. My braking is smooth and it takes corners just the same as the day i bought it. This new noise is getting more noticeable and any help is greatly appreciated.

Could be a wheel bearing going for a ****... try getting the tires balanced again. Are the rims stock rims? If they aren't it is possible that they aren't perfectly round. Other than that common suspension stuff is your compliance bushings, tie rod ends and such. But I doubt either would make the noise your describing.

Yeah, it is all factory... I think that bearings make the most since cause it is just coming from the front driver side.

Re: 2004 excessive road noise help

You can check the bearing yourself ... If i remember correctly you just jack the car up with that wheel off the ground and see if there is any play in the tire. Especially in the up/down. If there is any at all you know it's the bearing. Even if there isn't, it's probably the bearing anyway. If there weather where you are is anything like here, the last thing your going to be doing is jacking the car up LOL. It's freezing here and we have like a foot of snow.

prolly wheel bearings, and it resonates when the tires are turning a certain speed causing it to sound louder.

Re: 2004 excessive road noise help

My 05 had a bad bearing almost from the start, I blamed it on the Potenzas, then once they were gone noise was still there. I also started noticing when turning a certain direction there was a slight vibration. The mechanic said it was easy to spot.

Warm but humid. I'd rather have my car not rust.
