Question about HID Conversion Kit

Hello, I have been recently stumped the past few days. I bought a pair of dual halo headlight enclosures and the bulb types are h1 and h3. Also I purchased a xenon HID conversion kit, I found out I got the wrong bulb type but that is not my problem. I was wondering how you get the two bulbs in each side? Do they make a dual output ballast or can I not do that?

Re: Question about HID Conversion Kit

your new light housing has two different spots for the two bulbs, so you would need a seperate ballast for each bulb (two ballasts per side, 4 ballasts in total for the vehicle). its kind of annoying have all of that clutter, which is why people usually have a regular bulb in the drl/high beam spot, and an hid kit for the lowbeam. if you want hid in both of them, yes you will need seperate ballasts for each because they need their own hookups.

if your car is 01-03 and had a stock headlight housing you could get away with one ballast per side because the car only needs a single bi-xenon hid bulb (it would have the hi and low beam both in it and that whole bulb would get powered by one ballast).

but because you have two different bulbs, each one requires its own ballast. basically....1 bulb (whether its single or dual filament) = 1 ballast.

Re: Question about HID Conversion Kit

Ok so how would I connect just the single ballast on each side, Would I have to splice into the connector?

Re: Question about HID Conversion Kit

hey i had the same problem with my hid conversion 8000k so i ordered to ballasts and found out that when i turned my high beams on the bulb was not hot yet so the beam was very light so instead i went out and purchased nokya artic purple halogen bulbs and they work great. they are 8500k and give me bright light when i need it without having to wait for the bulb to heat up.
Im not sure what temperature your hid kit is but its worth a try cuz youll definatly be disappointed with a conversion kit on your high beams
