Headlight Conversion help
Headlight Conversion help
I have an 01 civic that I'm doing the front end conversion to the 04-05. I've hit a rut.. Whats the best way for me to get the headlights to work? The 01-03 have a three prong plug for the bulb, where the 04-05's have a two prong plug... I'm thinking about doin the HID's as well, I had a buddy tell me that they might be universal, but I'm not too sure about that. Are they? Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Jessica

Re: Headlight Conversion help
well hid or not, you still need to convert the harness. problem is, old headlight uses H4 dual filament bulb, and only one filament can be on at a time. new headlight uses separate lo and hi beam bulbs and can both be on at the same time. so you at least need to make a new relay harness for one set of lights (like lo beam) and use the existing harness with new connectors for hi beams. alot of sites sell loose connectors like autolumination.com and the rest of the stuff like rings, wire, relays, and relay holders can get from partsexpress.com

Re: Headlight Conversion help
I have some ideas that I generated from another boards thread and the schematics for both systems you are welcome to them.
As mentioned the 01-03 system is not made to run 2 sets of filaments at the same time & also the 02-03 models have double relay change to the original circuit to split the load, 01s just use one relay.
You need a second relay, and add a new fused 12volt source for the high beams
