HELP! Replace Starter 02 Civic EX
HELP! Replace Starter 02 Civic EX
Hello, I'm a new member of the forum. Sorry to start with a problem, but I need help with what should be a simple question.
The Starter is failing on my 2002 Civic EX, 1.7, SOHC. Can anyone tell me how simple the Starter is to replace?,... Where its located? And most importantly, is it fairly easy to access? In other words, If I can find it and I don't have to take other parts off to get to it, I should be able to do the work myself.
All help is appreciated....
Thanks,
K

Re: HELP! Replace Starter 02 Civic EX
Maybe a 2 out of 5 to replace. Disconnect battery, you will shock yourself otherwise. Take off air box and resonator if applicable. The starter looks like two black cylinders about the size of a coke can on the left top side of the motor, below the water block. Disconnect the power cable from the back, it's a 12mm bolt. Pull out the 2 14mm bolts from the sides of the starter and pull the starter out. Go in reverse to put it back.

OK, Thanks Baron. I was being told everything under the sun....remove the intake manifold, underneath, above the axel, special tools, etc, etc. I've replaced starters before, but not since carbs went out of style. ;-)
