im trying to figure out if i have a slxa or a bmxa type on my 03 honda civic ex sedan where can i check?

there should be a metal stamp or sign on the trans somewhere, i think on the top side. but what are you wondering, swapping to a different one? all 01-05 use the same trans, altho the 04-05 are built better.

there is difference in the way the shifting mechanism is bolted down between the 01 and the 03 and each different trim level has a different set gear ratio. Of course when it comes down to it all that really matters is what gear ratios you want cause they all bolt up the same

oh yeah i forgot about gear ratios different from ex and lx.

ex gearing is a bit shorter while lx/dx is longer.. for more gas mileage get lx/dx and for more acceleration go ex
