How much does a Hondata ecu help?????
Re: How much does a Hondata ecu help?????
Man you are asking some epic fail questions LOL..
It probably wouldn't help you at all enough to get your moneys worth out of it. Not even close.
Get that if you desperately need to tune your engine to some major modifications.. (i.e. head work, block work, forced induction) that kind of thing.
Your R18 really isn't the epitome of performance, just like our D17s. Thats not what they're made for. Sorry bud :thumbs up:

Re: How much does a Hondata ecu help?????
unless ur seriuos about boosting or you are fully built NA motor, its a waste of ur money...especially to be throwing about $1000 for the unit itself...not including tuning...
so if you have a stock d17 and dont plan to seriously boost it, id stay away from it

Re: How much does a Hondata ecu help?????
haha thanks guys. As i've said before in other posts i'm probably going to ask "epic fail" questions lol. I just like asking to learn haha. I plan on waiting awhile but i am thinking about boosting. I found a really nice kit on procivic.com for my R18 brings it from 140 at the flywheel to 220 flywheel. But as i said that will probably be awhile. Once i've done that would it be a good idea for hondata? or still a waist?
Re: How much does a Hondata ecu help?????
he has an 8thgen, hence the R18 motor hes talking about
Re: How much does a Hondata ecu help?????
its a VERY good EMS but it by far isnt THE BEST. Things like AEM EMS, HKS FCON, and Power FC comes to mind at being some of the best. As far as only Honda wise, AEM EMS is also comparable to Kpro
Re: How much does a Hondata ecu help?????
It isn't the best out there, but when you look at the cost of the AEM and others it becomes much more attractive and works very well. The others ,IMHO are for dedicated track cars more than a street driven car.
Re: How much does a Hondata ecu help?????
there are better ones, but aem ems is crap, aem fic is crap, dont know much about hks, but for real world tuning, hondata is the most reliable, and the "best" for DD car...
Re: How much does a Hondata ecu help?????
AEM FIC shouldnt even be included in that group due to both functionality and price. Calling AEM EMS crap? Please. So whats your definition of real world tuning? I'm very interested in knowing.
