Re: possible timing mess-up

Or the belt isn't tensioned properly?

Have you driven it? Do you have a power loss?

Re: possible timing mess-up

sounds like your alternator/ac belt or power steering belt is not tight enough. more than likely you alternator/ac belt cause it's a lot harder to reach the tensioner. They tend to make a chirping noise or a squealing noise.

Re: possible timing mess-up

1. have u checked your oil level??

2. check out the CEL, it will tell u what is wrong(maybe)

3. it is NOT timing, our engines are what are called interference engines, which means if it is out of time, the cylinders will collide with the valves, causing them to bend, locking up the head, stalling the engine

4. the reason u have oil leaking down the engine is that u need to change ur valve cover gasket

Re: possible timing mess-up

When you revv it up. What do you mean by it starting to want to die? Does the engine straight cut out, misfires, etc?

Re: possible timing mess-up

no when i first put it back together i took it down the street and on my way back i punched it and everything died on me. i could here the ecu cutting out befor it died. so i took the valve cover off to check and the sensor next to the came gear was off and the nut the held it on was stuck in the tensioner spring. whats cel? and how can i check it? also do i need to do a valve job? and is my car ok to drive? the valve cover gasket is a new, it looks like its comming from under the head. and i think i striped out one of the valve cover bolts.
if its not the timing then whats making it idle so high?

Re: possible timing mess-up

Well a bad sensor will do that. Do you have all of your bolts torqued to spec.?

CEL = Check Engine Light

If it were the timing your car would be running like a POS from the moment you started it, not just when you step on it.

Re: possible timing mess-up

Those last questions you just asked kinda scared me....you shouldn't be messing with the timing belt if you have that many questions...

Research,Research, Research, & then fix!

You need to make sure all sensors are plugged in, set engine to tdc & check all timing marks, UNhook battery & reset check engine light (after sensors are checked), & perform valve adjustment..........

Bingo you found your problem! that is the TDC sensor if it comes unbolted your car will run like **** you probably had it on close enough that when you started to drive it you did not have a problem but when you stepped on the bolt finally came all the way and your sensor slipped and stopped reading as for noise that bolt that came off and landed on the tensioner spring was probably bouncing around and making the majority of your noise

Re: possible timing mess-up

i fixed the sensor bolt befor i made the vids. so it cant be still bouncing around. wehn i had the top camgear cover off to fix it was sitting at tdc, as for the bottom i cant get it off. i had put a lighter one on and the stock one i used that damn tool. so i have to find some wrench with a chain thing on it

Re: possible timing mess-up

If you can't get your crank pulley off then how did you do the t-belt?

Also it sounds like you're not sure if the crank was at tdc?

wow...........tow it to a mechanic
