generic pcv valve part #
generic pcv valve part #
complete noobie here,
looking to change the pcv on my 02 ex. Part stores say I have to go to honda for it and they want $31 for a $4 part. Is there a generic version of this part? The check engine light is not on, but I'm having some hesitation in the first 2-3 min of driving then it fine. Figured I'd try a cheap repair before biting the bullet and going to a shop for a serious checkup. Plus, I have to change the oil now and from what I've read the best place to get to it is by removing the oil filter.
thanks in advance for any help

Any PCV valve that has a 1/4" NPT thread will work. Hell, I've got two extra stock ones sitting right here. You can have one for $5 shipped if you can't find one somewhere else. Here's where it is on the back of your block. Whether the oil filter is on or not doesn't matter.

That's all right, I'm in the US Army stationed in the UK. We still use USPS to get back to the states and if you're in NY it would only take 4-5 days tops.

No problem man, that's why we're here.
$5, send it via PayPal to tweefoos@hotmail.com and I'll get your PCV in the mail!

thanks for doing this so quickly. Figures, just last night the check engine light came on. Now I'll have to try to jumper that to figure out what's wrong. Maybe just a gas cap issue - if I could be so lucky. but the pcv will be just in time for when I change the oil, I can try to do that at the same time while I'm under there. and take care in the army, thanks for your commitment.

Take her down to Autozone and have them pull the DTC for free. I don't think you can jumper the 7th gen to pull the pulses like you can do on the older Hondas.

thanks for all your help. The part came on sat and changed oil and valve pretty quickly. Really tough to get out, but it's been there 150k miles.
I was hoping it would help the hesitation problems in the first 1-2 min of driving. It did clear up the check engine light though? Went to AZ and they came back with a cat. converter error. Don't ask me why, but; the pcv did the trick.
thanks again for everything. hoping the hesitation problem will be cheaper than a cat. conv. problem. As long as it's not a gas filter prob. since that's in the tank.
hope I can help out someday

Glad it made it Barry and fixed some of your problems, hit me with some iTrader rep and I'll be happy!
A new stock cat isn't cheap if you have to replace it and buy it from Honda. You'd be better off buying a universal Magnaflow cat from Summit (www.summitracing.com) for $65, an oxygen sensor bung ($6) and a new flange ($6) and having it welded on. Save you about $100.
Hesitation though......water in the gas tank? Run a good injector cleaner through lately? Is it an auto or manual?
