Question 02 LX heat issues.....

Hey I'm a newbie to the site, so don't haze me too bad. Lol!

I have an issue with my 02 civic lx sedan. What is happening is the interior heat and defrost blows cool air when idling, and as soon as a apply the accelerator it heats up right away? I was under the hood and noticed that the A/C compressor is kicking on frequently while the car is switched in the heat/defrost mode?

Is this normal, because I know the A/C light always displays while defrosting?

Someone help me out please, I am mechanical, so if someone can point me in the right direction, I would certainly appreciate it......
