Badge removal - how to clean the outline of the badge ??
Badge removal - how to clean the outline of the badge ??
I want to remove the rear civic/lx badges on my car. I started off with the lx to see how it comes out, since its smaller. It came off really smoothly, but there still is a distinct outline of where the badge was. I mean you can't see it unless you are foot away from the badge, and look at the right angle. What can i remove that with? HELP PLEASE!
Re: Badge removal - how to clean the outline of the badge ??
thats to remove the glue if there is any left, other than that you will need to buff or wax it out. Gotta remember that part of your car hasn't seen daylight since that badge was put on so its color will be brighter than the rest of your paint.

nothing will damage your paint as long as you don't leave it on, use it for its purpose then get it off. Most soaps will do the trick, most anything with an emulsifier in it.

See i have the same problem... after someone yanked off my badge and i used goo gone and some stuff to get rid of the foam, there was that film that still reads civic..
I still don't know how to get it off.... waxing doesn't work, and more goo gone doesn't work either.

if u have a dent, but a can of compressed air, turn it upside down spray it on the dent, so it looks like its frown over then heat it up with the hair dryer, and the dent should pop out.
But back on topic, i think imma try some alcohol/acetone on the area.... just not gonna apply it in the sun or for too long.

the dent looks even worse then i thought! i thought it would be hard to get it in the pics but damn it doesnt look too pretty. Anyhow to remove the adhesvie I used alcohol pads, windex, and then cleaner wax and it looks 98% spotless. I will get the civic one off tomorrow.
I would like if you gave me more specific info on the compressed air, and dent poping out! thanks

i did this a few weeks ago on my civic and it worked great.
once the badge is off, and you peel off as much glue stuff and you can then...
get an old cotton t-shirt, wet half of it and leave other half dry. take turns rubbing the left over glue, with the wet part of shirt, then the dry part of shirt and it should come off pretty easliy.
*Note: i did mine on a day that was like 100 degrees. weather also plays a role as well.
mine came out great, didn't need or want to use any chemicals on my paint job. now it looks clean, no outlines or anything.
good luck!!

meguiars scratchX works too cause it very gently polishes the clear coat so it would take off anything that was there. just wax when youre done.

I used a brillo pad and some sand....just barely hazed the paint but looks nice from my house
Re: Badge removal - how to clean the outline of the badge ??
yeah thanks for all the replys, for me the soap/sponge, windex/cloth and alcohol pads worked really well. Took some patience and didnt come off right away, but after couple of rounds it came out like the badge was never there. I used a cleaner wax for a nice shine at the end...
but i need to fix then dent real bad. please help!! ill probably make another thread about it, unless someone can help me here..lol (if you don't know, my heat gun (when i was heating up the adhesive) caused a pebble size dent on my bumper that i need to get rid off it. Look in the picture above to see...thanks in advance

to take the civic part, i went to a local auto shop and the guy told me gasoline works really good and will not damage the paint at all...so i used gasoline to clean up the resedue, it didnt come off easily but did come off way easier then the previous methods i tried...=]
now my ride is badgeless except the honda trunk badge...hmm what if i took that off and put the civic there? lol

Re: Badge removal - how to clean the outline of the badge ??
hmm really? there might be no holes on mine, because it is glued with the adhesive (remember i got my car painted so maybe they filled the holes up)
