Help w/ electric fan

My electric fan isnt coming on. Is that just the relay? I think it may be one of two things but im still learning to work on Civics. The fan does work, I "hot wired it" and it comes on. This is on a 93 Civic EX. Any pics, tips, or where I can snag a cheap relay would be appreciated.... ...
thanks in advance..

Re: Help w/ electric fan

all relays are cheap. go to autozone or something. it could be a few other things besides a relay. does the condensor fan come on when you turn the a/c on?

Yeah im pretty sure the condensor fan comes on.. the ac works pretty well. The relay is hardwired into the harness, I thought it would just pop off and replace... should I just cut it off and wire in a new one? I think its a 4 wire/ 4 prong or something.

what do you mean hardwired? did they solder the wires to the relay without using any type or wire terminals? if its done wrong, redo it the right way.

Re: Help w/ electric fan

There are several reasons the fan will stop turning on. Not enough coolant in the system, relay is blown, fan switch is bad, t-stat is stuck shut, blown head gasket.

Re: Help w/ electric fan

I had the same problem on a 98 Civic EX. The fuse for the cooling fan is in the fuse block next to the battery.

My fuse was blown. It is a mini 20 amp fuse at the rear right of the fuse box (Need needle nose pliers to remove it).

I replaced the fuse and the fan is now working.

The relay is in the same fuse block.
