question for all shop mechanics

some of the guys at the shop were shootin the bull friday about our tool bills after the snap-on man left. i now have the highest tool bill in all the shop. it made me wonder what the rest of the planets tool bill was. so chime in if you have a tool bill and which tool company its with. i just got mine down to a shade over 3500 with snap-on.

Still owe about $1500 to Mac. Them and SnapOn are gonna be your two best tool companies as far I'm concerned, pricey though (but you already knew that).

i dont buy much from the mac man. i bought a set of screw extractors from him the other day because i had to have them right then and he just happened to show up. it had 5 left handed drill bits and 5 screw extractors and it was about $65 for the set. snap on has the better tools i think. i racked up 2500 of that 3500 in 30 minutes on the snap on truck thursday.

Yeah I've been there before. My shop was just a hardcore Mac bay and that's the kind of box we all had. We had a snap-on guy but he was real high pressure, let me force this 18V drill down your throat which we weren't really feeling.

the guy that comes around for SK tries to pressure you into buying his tools. the mac man doesnt say much. our snap on guy is the best. plus, our snap on man helps us a lot with modis. he knows his ****.

Re: question for all shop mechanics

I wanna say 24 or 2500. But I traded up on a little craftsman I had before for something around 2250. Yeah they both make a real good box, I'm not a big fan of the little slide thing on the underside of the drawer pull on some of the snapons but they serve their purpose. One of the guys I've worked with over the years had some $8000 snap on monster. About twice as long as mine and taller as well.
