Spider Cracks inside headlights?
I have no idea what to call this I've done multiple searches on "Crack, Headlights" and I come up with results that are not similar. The problem I have is the headlights I am using right now has cracks or scratches or something all in the inside. I dont know if this is te rightterm but my friend called it "Spider Cracks" they are very small noticable cracks that looks like a web all over my headlights in the inside. Is there anything i can do to take those out? maybe opening headlight and buffing/polishing with lens polish? This problem wasnt cause by me... I dont know what the person that sold it to me did to make the headlights all jacked up like that. I've Opened and cleared out my old lights before and man I did a superb job
I just wanted blacked out light without giving up my stock head lights.
If you know anyone that had this problem? and if there is a solution.
THANKS in advanced

Re: Spider Cracks inside headlights?
the cracks you're refering to are inside the headlights on the cover right (the clear piece)???
if so i know exactly what you are talking about. the same thing happened to my friend's headlight. but i what had happened to him, was he put on vinyl eyebrows, which caused the headlights to overheat the cover, kinda like a blanket, when the lights were turned on.
i dont think theres a solution for this, just get new ones and save yourself some time.

Re: Spider Cracks inside headlights?
man im like puzzled what it could have been then? cause I've done my share of opening and resealing heads and it never caused that problem. I just wanna know if I could buff it out with lens polisher or so? I've seen my friend use lense polisher to get all the nasty cake off lol. I mean I dont mind trying it out but I am Reopening these headlights as soon as I recieve the amber pieces from someone
Re: Spider Cracks inside headlights?
Try some clear polish (like Meguiar's Plast-X). It might fill some of the cracking to make it less noticeable. Plus it will make your lens crystal clear.

Re: Spider Cracks inside headlights?
i used plastic cleaner on the inside and made it worse. there are thousands of fine scratches now...not too noticable except from certain angles. it doesnt really affect light output so dont worry too much. you cant fix besides getting brand new headlights

Re: Spider Cracks inside headlights?
ah ic gearbox would you happen to know exactly what causes this? is it my hids over heating the plastic???? and since it it is fine scratches would it be possible to buff that out with lens polish[wet sand method] ???? I hate looking at my old headlights and being able to see through them crystal clear and looking at these headlights and just looking at them with disgust lol I dont even enjoy looking at my hids due to that
Re: Spider Cracks inside headlights?
mine are like that too. but I've had like 4 pairs of headlights and all of them turned out like that after they have been use for awhile. I think it's from all that heat from the bulbs. iono ahahah

Re: Spider Cracks inside headlights?
plast-x wont help much i had the same cracks on my old lights ive gone through multiple pair of headlights. Right now i have stock headlights and there perfect just like new out of the box. I want to black em out but i dont want to put them in the oven but i dunno if thats whats making them crack up faster.

Re: Spider Cracks inside headlights?
halogen gets much hotter and weakens plastic more than hid ever would. it just happens, its the polycarbonate used and very easy to scratch it. only thing you can really protect is outer lens from the sun using a plastic sealer.

Re: Spider Cracks inside headlights?
oven wont do much, its just heating once, this is long term exposure which is why older lights look like crap. if you want perfect, go buy $400 pair of lights from honda, never open them, and use a plastic protectant on the outside every month.

Re: Spider Cracks inside headlights?
well there is premade black out, which is new. its not oem but theyre nicely done and its factory made. i was gonna get em but the black is a bit too light compared to my jet gloss black rims and grill. im picky about that stuff lol. here they have blacked out and gunmetal.
