Suede Interior [Pictures Inside]
I started the project today. I went to Napa and picked up a trim panel remover and some tape.

Then I went to Fabricland and picked up some sable suede in red.

Then I went to the cupboard where I already had some 3M adhesive spray.

The before shot:

Remove old fabric, clean area of glue and particles, and use old fabric as template for cutting new insert.

Tape off around section, spray glue, and lay suede. I used a Sears magazine that I got in the mail this week.

Tuck edges of suede into groove so it looks stock. Then reassemble panel and put it back on the door.

Close door and admire work. My seat brackets will arrive this week too and the seats have some red in them so it'll match better.

gah see i was gonna take on this project this week but i kept running into probs finding the right material! like no one sells a good green... its always olive or puke or neon green...
how many yards of material did u need, and also how does the suede feel? like plushy wise lol

Looks very nice, I have been wanting to put black suede on those panels for a while now, never get around to it. You should make a matching boot, will tie things together a little better. That was my plan.

It's not plushy at all. You could knock on it since there's plastic behind it, it's just the suede fabric, no plush. But thinking about it now, that would have been pretty pimp, maybe I'll redo it with some wool behind it.....
Is yours the red Civic with similar pictures? That's the DIY I followed, I found it online a few days ago! Awesome write up if it's yours, I kept coming back in the house to check it saying, "How the F did he do that?" I had to break that middle piece off too but instead I shaved it with a sharp knife on the back so the hook was gone but the pin piece still stuck through the hole enough to hold it in place when I put it back on.

Haha, I'm VERY glad to have helped. It looks pimp. As far as the plushyness goes, I think I mentioned somewhere in that thread that I put a second layer one, not only because the first one was fvcked up with the bleed through, but because it wasnt soft at all. I just applyed a layer right over it. The 3M spray doesnt stick to the microsuade, so I used rubber cement and its been holding like a champ ever since, in fact, I used rubber cement for my entire headliner and its working perfectly. You should think about taking it back off and adding another layer- it feels stock plush now.
As for the handle that you had to break off- epoxy paste is your friend. Get it at home depot and mold it around the break points. I'll hold like it wasnt ever broke before. I got the tube that looks like a long film canister, you'll see it.
Well, do you have plans for the headliner? The headliner is a huge pain in the *** just because its so big, which = lots of chances to fvck it up. I think I might have to write a DIY on that, I dont think the other member came through with it yet.

For the headliner, I left the old stuff on there, the rubber cement grabs it better. The microsuade doesnt stick with the 3m- sucks doing fabric to fabric. All the other 3m sprays arent rated for automotive headliners (says on the back in really fine print). Rubber cement ftw! I went and bought tin 32oz'er of it. Used a good amount of it.

Just don't do this. When I put the door panel back on I didn't realize my lock hadn't poked through the hole, it was jammed down inside. And it was hooked under the panel so I couldn't pull it up, the whole panel had to come off again. The major problem was that I had closed the door before I realized so I spent an hour with 2 screwdrivers trying to bend the panel enough to pull the lock up, then while doing that I had to also pull on the door handle to get the door open. Then pull the panel off, fix what I messed up, and put it back on.

You mean in the fabric? I saw it done on TV like on Unique Whips and stuff. You get some thin polystyrene (styrofoam) and cut it how you want your design to look. I've only ever seen them do flames. Then glue it down and glue your fabric over it. Get a small roller and roll around the image and the fabric will have a raised image in it.
