When to change oil?
Ok the book says 10,000, I don't believe it. Also, it says that when you first get your car, Honda puts in special oil that is made for new engines, and to leave it in for longer. So when should I replace my oil the first time, and also every time after that? thanks!

i change my oil every 3- 4,000 miles cause that's just the kind of person i am. no more than 5,000
my first oil change was at 3,000 cause my father was like when the car is broken in, it's getting rid of any fragments or left over stuff from when the engine was put together. same thing wit the oil filter change
m first change was pretty dirty for only 3,000. i don't know about anyone elses
just my $.02

There is a lot of controversy surrounding this topic. Personally I prefer to change my oil at the "standard" intervals of 5,000-6,000 km rather than Honda's new 8,000 km rule. I just feel safer about it, afterall your oil suspends combustion by-products/acids, metal particles, dirt, etc. Sure the cars may be more advanced now and tolerances are tighter, but oil is still oil, and after certain use it will breakdown. Now, if I go synthetic I may then be inclined to use the 8,000 km Honda rule.
Keep this in mind though, if you do change at 8,000 km I don't think you'll have any issues since 1) Honda recommends it after thorough testing, 2) thousands of other Civic/RSX owners will be changing their oil at the recommended level also.

i got my first oil change at about 10,000 miles i think. i felt bad about waiting that long, but my dad said "if that's when Honda says you should do it, then thats when you should do it!"
but now i go back to my dealership to change my oil every 2,500-3,000 miles. im currently at 34,100 miles on my car, and she still runs great and i think changing the oil so often helps.

How do you drive?do you drive hard or relatively easy?
whats the average temperature been, that all matters.
its like on the newer vehicles (i can only think of the new chevrolets), they actually have an electronic counter that tells you when to change it and it changes with driving style, atmoshereic conditions, etc.
every 3000 miles is a safe medium, though.
