turbo on a auto
hey i just bought a 2k1 white civic EX.. and its a auto... is it possible to drop a turbo kit.. and if so.. will it be a waste.. what mod's will i need to put into it make this car faster..
you might wanna try nos dry setup get like 50 to 75 horsies for free plus at lower cost. you probably better off with turbo or nos setup for manual though. but i bet that your auto will kick some
i have heard automatic turbo's are faster than manual but i am not 100 percent sure thats correct. i dont think they have turbo's for our cars yet but you could custom make one! that is totally possible you can have the turbo's custom made!
yea i also heard that turbo is better on an auto.. and same with nitrous.. not sure bout that though. someone want to comfirm me? if this is true, im glad my dad didnt lemme get an manual
.. but in reality, exactly how would i ever afford turbo or nitrous? yeaaa, never..

Turbos and automatics are a great match.... My dad used to have a 1991 300zx Twin Turbo w/auto and what he told me was that turbos need to "spool up", and thats where the powers at ! and in a automatic thats where it stays spooled up ....you never let you foot off the gas (unlike a manual) and the car keeps pulling (unlike a manual, where you have to let off the gas to shift) ... and turbos don't "spool up" when you let off the gas (like a manual).... so this is "one case" where it is good to have a automatic tranny ! (sorry 5-speed owners) us automatic guys finally get our first win !! lol

Ya'll are a perfect example that ignorance is bliss
I'll touch it.
In the most simple explination, a good stick driver and an auto tranny work the same way, except that the auto has a torque converter which is where the power loss comes from ~20% of your HP. Also the auto tranny only has 4 gears so the gear ratios work more in your favor in a manual. Don't go interpreting my first statement to mean that they are the same, but for all intents and purposes, they operate the same with the motor. RPM's drop in an auto just like they do when you shift a manual (they have to), so that isn't different. The only possible reason I could think that an auto would be better than a manual is if the clutch couldn't handle the added HP and began to slip slightly. I don't think this would be an issue since you would most likely reach the limit of a stock slushbox before you reached the limit of a manual tranny.
Face facts, both transmissions have loss from the engine to the wheels but an auto usually has (commonly accepted figure) a loss of about 20%HP over a manual. Someone should dyno their auto, I'll bet it is sub-100HP. Sorry, but that is the way that it is.
