Header problem Help please....
Hey y'all... Well I went out and bought a polished header, and so far after a lot of elbow grease and liquid wrench, I was able to remove the top 5 nuts/bolts holding the header onto the block, but I can't remove the bolts connecting the header to the downpipe. In looking at the bottom of the header, it almost looks like the nuts are welded onto the OEM header. Is this correct? Also how can I remove the last two bolts. Anyone that has replaced their header please help me out. Spent about three hours 2 nights ago just trying to remove those last two bolts. I'm gonna try my friend's air rachet, but I don't want to strip the head off the bolts. Please please help me out... Thanks.
Oh yeah, any pix would greatly be appreciated.

They are welded to the header. You have to take the bolts out from underneath. They are spring loaded. Using a air wrench will not help U any. Sorry I have no pics for ya. But if U look at the header where its meets the downpipe U will notice 2 spring loaded bolts U will have to take them out from underneath. All U need is an extension and a 10mm socket I believe but I may be wrong. Once U get those 2 bolts out the header will come right off.

Yeah, I was working on the bolts underneath, but they wouldn't turn. I went out and bought another extension yesterday, so I'll give that a try. Now you said they were spring loaded, is there anything that needs to be done to loosen the bolt prior to taking a socket to it?

For old rusty bolts and nuts, def bust out a torch and get them heated up real nice, but make sure u dont torch any of the other stuff in your engine bay like the O2 seonsors and stuff! From what I remember, the part on the top is welded on, so stay down and keep hitting them from the bottom.

^^^ thats good.
i personally wouldnt recommend using an impact gun on stuck bolts. theres a very high chance you will strip the nut or bolt doing it this way. at least with hand tools, you can "feel" what you are doing.
