Governor

Just got 2k1 civic dx. I love my ride but on the highway the governor cuts in at 180 km/h. I stll got a bit of the peddle left and more power but it stops me . Any idea how to fix this prob.

so you just wanna plow that dx down the freeway at OVER 180km/h (about 112mph for us americans) on stock firestones?

have fun wrapping yourself around a tree....

I had mine up to 115 on the highway just the other day. The car just started following the yellow line on the road like a train. I gently tried to get back on course but I would of had to pull harder than I wanted at that speed. So, I just let her slow down gradually. I was trying to top her out but I think I am going to wait for some new tires.

i had my EX up to 105 a few weeks ago. that was plenty fast for me. that is right around the point where vtec kicks in, in 5th gear so i was just curious. but i was doing that with my 17X7's on there with V rated tires.

I was only able to go 123 in my ex manual.... after like 115, it takes hella long for it to reach the governor which is supposedly @ 127MPH on our cars so I slowed it down.

Hey Avenger... Dumbarton Bridge @3am. I hear from a cop on this forum that most cops don't care the freeway you're on is deserted. (Dunno if this applies to bridges... oh well, it ain't like I go there every night and I doubt if I go that fast again, it won't be in my Civic.) I wouldn't take my car over 110.

Diznavis I don't just drive that fast always, and i know other people use the highways, just like to push it a bit now and then. I also will not go that fast if there's anyone around.

speed in exess of 80 = bad = keeping alive the civic image of a punk kids tuner car = image of RICE!

you should work on how ot get yoru car up to 80 faster, not how to keep it at 180

No cops usually dont care if the highway is deserted. Ever try sitting in a car at 3am with nothing to do, no CD player or even a Tape Deck. It sucks bro, so you find the first person to pick on and go for it. As for me no more of that, I have a desk job and the badge comes off at night..... even if they dont normally care if the highway is deserted, they probably still have a limit to what speed you should be going, and well over 100mph is probably above it

I have the EX and 105 is as far as I want to get it on these stock wheels with firestones, I don't trust the firestones as much as I used to. But with the freeways here in AZ its 75 and no one usually does that so 80-85 is the flow. But for long distances I can see how a person needs the speed, it would benefit over hrs on end. But to work or something local gets you there seconds early not really worth it as I see it. But don't plan on getting near that governor till I get more miles on the ride and the rims with good tires.

But it is a good rush to go 100+ I will say, but I never do it at night or on roads with traffic.

Nick

My 99 DX was limited at 120mph, which I only hit a handfull of times. Even with the suspension and Z-rated tires handling got a bit iffy at those speeds. That car handled 100-110 with no probs though. God I loved that car.

Now I'm (still) waiting for an insurance check. I think I'm going to look around for a 99 or 00 Si, and if I can't find one I like I'll go with a 2k2 EX.
