I had that same problem when I put my megan test pipe on...The only thing you can do really is shop around for a muffler shop that will put a spacer into that second O2 sensor hole that pulls that o2 sensor further from its original place in the pipe. Mine would even send my car into limp mode so dont wait...

The reason you have a check engine light is because your emission's equipment is no longer working properly (you are missing the catalytic converter). Some people's CEL goes off after awhile, others stay on indefinately. Mine doesn't come on anymore. Sorry about your luck.

Mechanical O2 simulator.
Pick up a sparkplug non-fouler from your auto parts store.
Not sure which size so you'll have to ask around.
Might even need some minor adjustments to make it fit.

It sits the O2 sensor slightly further away from its original position in the pipe so that it would pick up lower readings.

Its what cheech was talking about.

Also, my check engine has been on for so long that I'm afraid the bulb will burn out and fool me into thinking everythings okay.

had the same situation, so imma help you guys out for what i know that works. basically all you need is O2 Eliminator. here we go!!http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/O2-Se...QQcmdZViewItem

simply take out the lower sensor (very bottom) then put it on the o2 sensor, then put the whole thing back.... tada!!! , the cel is a goner!

i simply used the bottom part and it works great. it look like one piece but its 2 pieces. lmk if you guys have question!

^^^That's the mechanical O2 sensor I was talking about.
Actually cheaper if you buy it from a local auto parts store.

14mm non-fouler. Pick it up for $3.99 at Autozone.

You may be able to search "non-fouler" and find the original link to the honda-tech DIY thread with pics.

what if your not running a catalytic converter at all, just header to exhaust because im sure you guys know this but the cat is built into the stock header on all stock headers except for the ex and si if im not mistaken so once you replace the headers it eliminates your cat unless you get an aftermarket cat. we don't have emission laws here so i never got a cat put back on. would that part still work with a setup that has not catalytic coverter?

Yes, bc for the EX guys they lose their catalytic converter with the megan test pipe. You still need the 02 sensors to plug into something however, and thats where these 02 sims come into play.

I have the electronic one that splices two wires into your ECU and you're done. I'll trade you for your factory downpipe with cat if it's an EX..

Re: megan strait pipe causing check engine light

^^ this thread is almost a year old.... there is an entire DIY of this somewhere on the site. search please. you are supposed to drill out the other end of the fouler with a dremel or a drill bit or something. i have done this mod and it works like a charm, for anyone running no cat.

Re: megan strait pipe causing check engine light

just buy a High Flow cat from Random Tech., save time, spend more money, and it's the best, even best if you turbo! and worry about emissions! im doing that, and i know thtis beotch is olldd!
