Crank Pully????
sorry ita a long question, i am taking the head off... i need a chain wrench to pull of the crank pully so the timing belt lower plastic cover can come off so i can get to the timing belt tensioner, now i need the chain wrench to unbolt the nut of the crank pully, i cant find the chain wrench anywhere, i looked in napa, autozone, advanced, homedepot.... i cant find it. does anyone know if i can take off that crank pully without the chain wrench? a way to hold the crank pully while i am unbolting the nut without spinning the crank?

Everyone to the darkside! www.importpassion.com PS use SLO REX as a referral name
ususally am impact gun takes it off for me... soak the bolt in wd40 for a few minutes and impact it off... of all the many times i had to pull those things off i have never used such a tool... not once
well i dont have a shop with all the tools in my back yard... i have a honda civic service manual and they are suggesting on using the chain wrench to hold the pully while unbolting the nut, i am not having hard time removing the bolt but holding the crank pully in one place... i also searched but the only thing i got its, crank pully special tool which can be rented but those will not due on a honda pully cuz i doesnt have any holes or gaps in the pully, its solid. thanks for your help guys!

the honda service manaul doesnt recommend a chain wrench, and what you need is what was posted above, the honda crankshaft tool. it fits in the middle of the crank to hold it in place and you put your wrench on the bolt to loosen the nut.
When I did my timing belt, I just had a shop loosen the nut for me. was charged $20 to loosen it and then when I was done I brought it back and they tightened it for me. the bolt was too damn tight for me to break loose.

i wish i can take it to the shop my head is almost ready to come off all i need to do is get the timing belt off the cam and take out the head studs and its out. i guess i will try the renal tool, whats the worst that can happen i can always return it

if you got it on an engine stand, could have a friend hold a screwdriver in between the flywheel tooth and the bolt on the stand while you loosen the bolt, had to do that while rebuilding a 2.2 in school. instructor swears by that method, cheap and usefull
