hey guys/gals..
personally, I really like the OEM alarm remotes by honda...
but as most of you know.. OEM alarm sucks...
so I wanted to get a viper or other alarm..
is it possible to use the honda OEM alarm remote.. with an aftermarket alarm system?

No, its not possible to use the OEM remote on an aftermarket alarm simply because of the different frequency..However you can switch the casing if it fits OR make a technical frequency adjustment that matches your alarm...(But you gotta know alot about electronics to do that) & thats no in the DIY section
-Hope that helps

Yes, there are 'piggy-back' alarms that allow you to add an alarm to a factory keyless system. Im not sure who makes them, because they come in very generic packaging because we buy them wholesale. I will check on a model number / manufacturer tommorrow.
What is it exactly that you don't like about the OEM alarm? Just the fact that it doesn't have a shock sensor? I don't have the OEM alarm I have a Viper 550ESP so I'm not real familiar with it. Although when I hooked up my Viper I did interfrace with the OEM wiring harness. By using the OEM alarm you want have near the range as a Viper nor will you have the extra available features. But if all you are worried about is have a shcok sensor and/or a motion sensor then that can be added to your OEM alarm (in a roundabout kind of way). Just go down to your local car stereo shop and tell them you need to purchase a shock sensor. You just wire up the trigger of the shock sensor to your door switch. The OEM alarm does trigger when a door is opened and its armed, correct? Although you won't know which sensor set it off, door actually being opened or the shock sensor. It will still serve its purpose. If you want dual shock, that can be done too, although it involves a few more parts and a little more work. Let me know exactly what you want to do and I can help you out with a little more info.
As far as using your factory remote with an aftermarket alarm, the answer is no, its not possible. Well, technically anything is possible. But unless you hire an electronics engineer to design you one and who knows the random frequency code for your alarm its not gonna happen. Most major aftermarket alarms use rolling codes. If someone was to "catch" your remote signal it will not work when they duplicate it. Your alarm never uses the same code twice. Well, eventually it will, but it is some insane number of codes.. in the billions.

The alarm we use to interface with factory keyless systems at my job is made by Omega Research, model number AL-100-H. It basicly uses the factory system's triggers to arm and disarm it, thereby allowing you to use your factory transmitters. It includes a starter kill output, voltage sensing, and an input for at least one other optional trigger. Their website is www.caralarm.com, but there is no info on this model, so im not sure how commercially available it is. Im not in to alarms, so Im really not sure what is deemed 'good', but I hope this helps a little.
i actually use an omega research alarm, the "Model One"
it has starter kill, code hopping, bleh bleh bleh
the model one has its own transmitters, but I can (i dont) use the original remotes to lock/unlock only, they won't arm/disarm....
