NEED ANSWERS QUICK!!! PLEASE READ!!!!!!
ok....i need fast answers because I need to order rims tonight, and the place closes early!!..I need to know the offset, I think..I want to order 17" rims, but I dont know the offset or whatever else I need. I do know I have stock 15"'s and its 4-lug. Please help quick!!!!!!!!!!!
I almost forgot...what tire size do I need?...I dont want a gap like I have seen on other civics that have 17 inch rims. I want maybe a 2 finger gap for the front tires. The back dont really matter as long as the front do that. Thanx again.

Hate to break it to you but unless your car is lowered in one way or another, you car will look like all the other 2K1's with 17's! Get some springs! You'll be ok!

Nope, I cant get springs!! I drive too fast too have a car that low. My only option is to buy air bags later when I get money. But I want a bigger tire that way I can have a tucked look in the back

That's the biggest load of crap I ever heard!!!
Unless you live in PA or fly over speed bumps, you won't have a problem.
Buying a larger rim is going to raise your car & getting a lower profile tire will create a larger gap. Deal with it and get springs. If you get good springs w/ tight suspension, it will be a stiff ride.

My speed ranges from 100-115 daily. I always hit dips in the highway. They are everywhere!!...If I was to buy springs, then I would be sure to bottom out. I dont want that 4x4 look yall are talkin about, so I will eventually get air bags. That way, I can be low when I'm not driving fast or when I park. But when I'm goin 100+...I cant be close to the ground!

If I have 15" rims and 4" tires, It would leave the same gap as is now by putting 17" rims and 2" tires. I wanted to get rid of the gap, and to do that, I would need bigger tires. My question was what size would I need.
put 40mm tires on your 17" rims...and if you lower it between 1" - 1.5", don't worry about the dips and bumps, the springs are designed so that when you hit a bump your tires bend inwards and don't touch the fender...plus if you don't lower your car it will ride like crap...
Springs (1 inch) and shocks will probably help with not bottoming out becasue our struts blow dead goat. My biggest beef with our civic is the crappy shocks, they were put there to please the masses and not the ones that like turns.
Bah. When I had my Civic I used to commute 30 miles one way on the I-15 in Southern California. I also drove 100-110mph daily. The I-15 is like the California Autobahn.
I lowered my car a few years ago, but before I did I shared your concerns about bottoming out. I had 15" rims with 195/50/15 Kumho's and 1.75-2.0" drop Progress Sport springs. The only bottoming out problems I had was on city streets. Mainly driveways and drainage ditches (the ones that run accross the street).
Lowering my car was the best thing I ever did for it's handling. That baby cornered like it was on rails. I really liked the Progress springs a lot, they were firm enough for good handling but soft enough that it didn't ride like a brick.
Once my insurance check arrives (hopefully this week) and I get a new car the first things I'm getting are wheels/tires and springs. Gotta have the handling!
My ride. R.I.P.

whoa...i think i worded it different than i meant....I meant i dont want to be driving with a lower suspension because of the risk of hitting the bumps with my front bumper and rear bumper...I had said I'm afraid to bottom out, but I'm not sure if that means the same thing as scrapeing the bumpers.

<< Your Civic isn't a race car. You shouldn't drive that fast. >>
It doesnt have anything to do with my car being a Civic; I would drive like that even if I had a different car, as long as that speed wasn't too high for it.

With 17" rims and a 2" inch drop, in all reality your car didn;t drop that much...your adding about half an inch to your wheel/tire radius and thus the car will be higher then it currently it...with a 1" drop your back down to half an inch lower then stock....exact numbers vary on the series of tire you have.

Ummmm...being closer to the ground is safer at higher speeds cause you get better handling. I'm sure the highways don't have that big of dips, and if they do.........stop driving so freakin fast! It's a civic, not a porsche.
