Please help me find data on HVAC self diagnosis our cars are equiped with.
I cannot for the life of me find a list, chart, whatever which explains what the different codes for the information from the diagnosis. My car flashed nine times, or as I understand it, HVAC Diagnosis Trouble Code 9. I have searched all over the web, this site, and bought a haynes manuel today and it doesn't tell me ish. What's wrong with your A/C? There's not a whole lot of info your computer will give you for your A/C. I've done some A/C work on 7th gens and EP3's and all I've used to diagnois the system was a set of guages and/or a volt/amp meter.
If the compressor isn't turning on, there's a good chance you're low on refrigerant (r-134a) which means you have a leak. But there's other things that can cause A/C problems, so elaborate and I'll see if I can help you.

basically, last summer it wasn't cool at all, so I thought it needed recharging. My friend added only like 1/2 a pound or less and the compressor would only turn on sometimes when you turned the fan (ac) on. Now you can't ever hear the compressor come on. I checked the fuses and it seems fine? Please help - D

Sounds like you're low on refrigerant, a ½ lb of r-134a isn't much and if the system doesn't have enough refrigerant the compressor will not turn on or click on and off. The system has a "low pressure switch" that will detect that the system is low on r-134a and keep the compressor from turning on, keeping the comprssor from burning up. You need to take it to someone that has a set of A/C gauges and add the proper amount of r-134a. If it is low on r-134a, you have a leak, and it will keep leaking until the leak is repaired, how long the new refrigerant will last depends on the size of the leak.

I really don't know what the codes could really tell you, I'm curious to what the code means also. A/C is pretty easy to diagnois with a set of gauges and knowledge of the system. Let me know if you find out what that code is.

I called a friend who works at a Honda dealer and he isn't familiar w/ the code either? I have no idea but he said they're replacing alot of the "switcheS" on top of the compressor? Or it could be the compressor itself which is a pain in the *** to do I hear. I should've done this last fall or spring, it's my own fault i'm sweating my *** off now!

^you're the man! do you know anything else about the air mix control linkage? That sounds like it'd be expensive and I don't know where to begin or where to have it repaired?
Basically it says test the air control motor by basically giving it direct power to see if it runs.
If that works, you replace the old heater control panel with a new one and see if the problem persists.
If that doesn't work, you have to remove the whole control motor and replace it.

If your compressor isn't turning on, I don't see how the air controller could have anything to do with it. ????? I'm really interested to see what your problem is.
