Question Exhaust Questions

I have a 02 lx auto and have an annoying exhaust rattle so I decided I would look into some exhaust changes. I noticed alot of talk on here about headers and do not expect the mod to bring much performance if any, but I still have some Q's.

I looked at my exhaust manifold and it looks like a manifold/cat. converter and really small. I found a ex manifold and knew it would look different based on topics I have read, however imo it looks just like the headers I see people ordering.

I notice alot of the headers have large runners into a 2.25/2.5 collector, how is that working out? I always was told the larger dia the header tubes the less low end power and more toward mid/hi end, yet most the headers I see all have 2 tubing and rarely will i see anything smaller. Does this theory not stand true on imports as it does on v-8's?

I really dislike the lx setup and while any change will yield little if any, it could not hurt to switch to a ex exhaust for future upgrades, and not to mention the exhaust has to flow better than the small lx manifold/cat combo, correct?

If this is the case I would be just as well off getting a ex manifold from the junkyard instead of buying a 50-100 dollar header which looks to be the same design, no?
